Abu Simbel is not just 2 temples saved by Hugh project in 1963, they are an engineering miracle from the ancient times, 2 temples were cut inside the mountain for King Ramses II and his wife Nefertary. They reflect the glory and greatness of the new Kingdom.

Abu Simbel Temples are not only a celebration of Ramses’ power but also a marvel of architectural precision. The Great Temple was built so that, on two specific days of the year—February 22 and October 22—the rays of the rising sun penetrate the inner sanctuary, illuminating the statues of the gods and Ramses II himself. This celestial event showcases the ingenuity of ancient Egyptian astronomers and builders.

The story of Abu Simbel  doesn’t end in antiquity. In the 1960s, the temples faced destruction due to the construction of the High Dam. In an engineering feat that mirrored the Egyptians’ own ingenuity, The 2 temples of Abu Simbel were cut into large blocks and relocated to higher ground.
